A nod to the local forested chain of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast NJ and southeastern NY. The soap label photo is Torne Mt., from where American militia surveyed British troop activity in the NYC harbor during the Revolutionary War. Legend has it that General George Washington dropped his watch in the crevice and one can still hear it ticking today. Torne Mt. was also the subject of paintings by Hudson River School artist Jasper Cropsey.
